Blender Basics Class 12 Week Class

Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. March 16, to June 1, 2010

 

Blender is a powerful 3D modeling, and animation suite. It is free and open source and can be obtained by going to the Blender Foundation's site at www.blender.org. (To see what it is capable of watch Big Buck Bunny the Blender Foundation's second open movie.) During this series of classes, students will learn the following:

Month 1

  • How to use the interface
  • Basic modeling of 3D objects
  • Creating and assigning materials and textures
  • Animating objects and materials

Month 2

  • Character Modeling
  • Rigging and skinning the character, (armatures)
  • Relative Vertex Keys (Shapes)
  • Actions, short behaviors that can be repeated and reused
  • The NLA editor

Month 3

  • Particle System Basics, for creating many effects such as fire smoke and swarms of butterflies
  • Curves for modeling and animation paths
  • UV Texturing
  • Basics of the Game Engine

The classes will be held at the Kingsport Renaissance Center, 1200 East Center Street Kingsport, Tennessee 37660 Room number 209.

The price of this class is $149.99 for all 12 weeks. Registration is Credit Card with PayPal. The price includes all files necessary for the class, plus extra files for appending materials and objects. A maximum of 12 students will be accepted. Bring your own computer with 3 button mouse and numeric keypad.
