Occasionally we provide classes for those who would like to learn more about animation and 3D graphics. This October we are providing one of these opportunities for learning about Blender, an open source 3D modeling, animating and gaming suite. To see what Blender can do watch Big Buck Bunny, the world's second open movie produced by the Blender Foundation's Peach team and Sintel, the latest open movie from the Blender Foundation's Durian project.

This is a 6 day class designed to bring students from beginner to intermediate level use of Blender. The class has been rewritten to cover the newest version of Blender. The class meets from 9am to 1pm with a short break in the middle. Total instructional time is 24 hours.

Intermediate Class in Topology of Character Modeling

This class covers theory of topology and how to model a human head from photo references, using the face extrusion method. The class covers everything from how to take the best photos of a model for reference and texturing photos, to setting up Blenders interface for ease of work flow, to solving problems that occur during the modeling. How to keep all faces of our model quad (faces) determining the flow of face and edge loops, using poles to stear the flow of face loops, and connecting separate pieces with different numbers of connecting edges.

The class will end with the modeling of an ear, which is arguabley one of the most complex shapes to recreate, and connecting it to our head mesh.

Coming this winter. This class requires a basic knowlege of Blender such as can be learned from the Basic Blender Class .
